Ronny Turiaf is heading to London this summer, joining France’s national team as they participate in their first Olympics in 12 years!
As FIBA.com reports:
Dealing with injuries for most of the season and twice traded in the last seven months, Turiaf experienced a complicated season until he was signed by the Miami Heat in March.
Recruited for his defensive skills, the former Gonzaga center helped the Heat win the championship against the Oklahoma Thunder.
After losing in the NBA Finals in 2008 against the Boston Celtics as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Turiaf was successful in his second attempt at winning a ring.
“It’s something beautiful to win a title, even more so when you had been defeated in the Finals a few years ago,” Turiaf told FIBA.com.
“It was very tough to win the ring, but we’ve been working so hard to reach the top of the league.”
A year after the first act in Martinique in June 2011, Ronny Turiaf and Boris Elisabeth-Mesnager, co founders of Passion in Action in 2010, are working daily on their future projects – even during their respective seasons in Miami and in Bordeaux (France).
To establish a continuity in their action through their foundation is the purpose of Passion in Action, and it is driving them to work on it even 5000 miles apart. That desire grew inside our two globe-trotters throughout their different experiences across the world. They want to become the linking point between their generation and the next ones, and share with the youth of their home island that experience and strength acquired. Ever since their first dribble they have been waiting for this moment to come true, and in June 2011 it felt like a dream coming to reality.
That event fed their motivation to make Passion in Action a part of Martinique’s landscape as far as developing programs to facilitate the exchange between locals and international inspiration.

Brothers James and Mark created Blanchard Family Wines with a shared passion for limited production, artisan wines from the Sonoma County. From the humble formation of their boutique winery, the Blanchard brothers also felt they had a unique opportunity to support charities that were personally important to them.
This unique blend of Syrah and Zinfandel from select vineyards was custom made for the Heart to Heart foundation. Limited in production, this wine will soon be offered exclusively through www.blanchardfamilywines.com, with 20% of all proceeds supporting the Heart to Heart Foundation.

He may turn out to be a very important one.
Now that All-Star forward Chris Bosh is out indefinitely — almost certainly the rest of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against Indiana, and possibly longer — with a strained abdominal muscle, Turiaf will be among those asked to fill the void.
Turiaf was listed in the starting lineup at center when Miami’s series against the Pacers resumed with Game 2 on Tuesday night, a game where the Heat also will use Joel Anthony and probably others to play what would have been Bosh’s minutes.
“I’m still not happy about the situation, because it’s at the expense of the team, somebody that’s a big vital part of what we do,” Turiaf said. “That’s why I’m not happy about the situation. So the situation happened — bam, OK, it happened. Now it’s time to just step up to the challenge.”
