Ronny had a great time at last night’s OCEAN Style and Anthony Anderson Fashion Showcase hosted by James and Manuela Goren. The elegant evening featured a delicious selection of Caribbean cuisine and cocktails. All proceeds from the event went to benefit The American Friends of Jamaica.
Ronny Turiaf traveled to Taipei this past week for Basketball without Borders – Asia. He was joined by Nicolas Batum (Portland Trail Blazers), John Salmons (Toronto Raptors), and Cody Zeller (Charlotte Bobcats). Eight-time NBA All-Star Yao Ming made a one-day appearance.
Wolves center Ronny Turiaf has worked toward brightening the days of Twin Cities’ kids since his first day with the organization—literally. His introductory press conference as held at the Ronald McDonald House near the University of Minnesota campus, and later that day he held a special film screening for the moving Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
Helping young kids who are going through difficult medical conditions is near and dear to Turiaf. He’s been through it before. As a young athlete just drafted into the NBA out of Gonzaga, he underwent successful open heart surgery. As a result, he vowed to help others who are going through similar struggles—especially kids. That’s when he first introduced his own Heart 2 Heart Foundation.
Ronny is excited to begin an internship with Olson Engage, the PR, Social Media and Experiential Division at the Olson Agency. The acclaimed agency has worked with clients such as MillerCoors, Kraft, PepsiCo, Wrigley and General Mills and has recently been named the 2014 Agency of the Year and the 2014 Creative Agency of the Year by PR Week and The Holmes report, respectively. While attending an Olson Engage event — Dave Chappelle’s Pancakes for Charity, Ronny had a fortuitous conversation with some members of the Olson Engage team in which he expressed his passion for marketing. He was soon offered an internship to work out of the agency’s Minneapolis offices. Starting June 2, Ronny will focus on video production, the brainstorming process, PR writing, media event planning, paid media, and social media strategy. He will work hands-on with Olson Engage clients, Discover Boating, Boston Scientific, and The Belize Tourism Board. Follow Ronny’s journey on social media and here at ronnyturiaf.me #RonnysBackpack.
Every year hundreds of players participate in a mission-based Big Game at MN Pro Paintball to raise money for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Ronny rallied with the teams this year for a cause near and dear to his heart — fostering greater care and medical breakthroughs for children with heart trouble. The Charity was started by Matt Ames, a fellow surviver of several open heart surgeries. Matt was born with levo-transposition of the greater arteries a a single ventricle. Six years ago, he received his second pacemaker he decided he wanted to give back. As the owner of MN Pro Paintball, he created this Charity Paintball tournament which, to date, has raised over $270,000 for the Cardiac Unit at Children’s Hospital.
